Mother-of-pearl is the inner coating, with iridescent reflections, of certain mollusc shells. It is widely used in marquetry, jewelry and in the manufacture of buttons. Thus, mother-of-pearl is said to promote bone regeneration and the circulation of fluids in the body. It also soothes anger and tension caused by daily stress. It is often worn around the neck as a necklace, or placed on a bedside table.
